July 2006

The Opus Final Conference was held on Thursday 20th July as part of the ESRC Research Methods Festival. You can see the programme and review the presentations by clicking here.

The Opus web site has been moved to a new server which should allow additional facilities to be developed, including discussion lists and document deposit. Look for the deliverables, presentations and papers from the project to be available from here over the next month.

May 2006

The Opus project has officially finished, but the Final Conference will be held as part of the ESRC Research Methods Festival in Oxford. Booking for the Festival has now closed (it is full), but it is still possible to attend the Opus sessions (without charge and without lunch!). Details of the program for the Opus sessions can be read here. If you would like to attend, please contact the project coordinator, Prof John Polak.

March 2006

The final management meeting of the project was held in Namur at the end of February. Preparation for the Final Conference in July is complete, and the programme is available from the website.

December 2005

Opus has agreed to take part in the ESRC Research Methods Festival, to be held in Oxford on 17 - 20 July 2006. The project will be presented and discussed in a full-day stream on Thursday 20th July. This session will constitute the Final Conference for the project. Full details of the programme will be available later both here and on the Festival site, and participation will be through the standard Festival booking process, with booking starting before Easter.

A web site to demonstrate the Provenance and Reliability features being developed by the project for Statistical Models through metadata is now publicly available. This is based on the latest version of the UML specification, implemented through XML documents. Details are available from the User Forum.

October 2005

A small but select group of users attended the Workshop organised in conjunction with the European Transport Conference in Strasbourg. Useful ideas emerged from the workshop discussions, and these will be incorporated in future work. The presentations from the workshop are available from the User Forum, where there will be continuing discussion of the issues raised.

A brochure introducing the Opus Project has been produced. You can download a copy from here, or write to the project coordinator for a supply of copies to distribute at your conference.

September 2005

A project and review meeting was held in Milan in September, and presentations from the meeting will be available in the User Forum shortly.

July 2005

The project will hold a technical workshop alongside the Association for European Transport annual meeting to be held in Strasbourg. The workshop will take place on Sunday 2 October 2005. The aim of the workshop will be to present the innovative OPUS methodology to expert technical professionals, validate the theory and obtain feedback to help the project achieve its objectives. Attendance will be by invitation, but interested specialists are welcome to apply for invitation. Attendance will be limited to 20 people. Click here for full details.

June 2005

Invitations to join the Opus User Forum have been sent out to an identified list of specialists in transport and statistical methodology. This group has access to all the deliverables produced by the project, and is the major forum for discussion and criticism of the work of the project.

March 2005

Opus project and review meeting held in Zürich. Presentations from this meeting are available within the User Forum.
